Vienna, 20 April 2026 — The vibrant flavors of the Philippines took center stage on Monday as the Philippine Embassy in Austria, in partnership with Plus43 Bar, launched Philippine Cocktail Week 2026. Supported by Destileria Barako, Tanduay Rum, and Destileria Limtuaco Official, the event showcased five exceptional Filipino-made spirits at Plus43 Bar on Westbahnstrasse 10, Vienna’s 7th district.
The celebration marks the beginning of a week-long promotion of Filipino mixology and craftsmanship, running from 20 to 25 April 2026.
Five Signature Cocktails Inspired by Filipino Flavors
For this year’s edition, Plus43 introduced five signature cocktails crafted exclusively for the celebration:
- Filo Colada
- Paradiso
- Coco and Oil
- Ube Nata
- Hugo Filipino
Each drink highlights iconic Filipino ingredients such as ube, calamansi, pandan, and nata de coco, reimagined through contemporary European cocktail artistry.
Semi, Plus43’s chief mixologist, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration. “It’s a pleasure to partner with the Philippine Embassy for this endeavor,” he said, noting that Filipino spirits offer a rich and exciting palette for creative cocktail design.
Embassy: Promoting Filipino Spirits and Filipino Talent
Philippine Ambassador Evangelina Lourdes Arroyo‑Bernas thanked Plus43 and its sister bar Speakeasy for their continued partnership and for embracing Filipino ingredients in their craft.
“We are grateful to Plus43 for creating new drinks using typical Filipino ingredients such as ube and calamansi,” she said. “We hope that through this cocktail presentation, more people will come to know and appreciate Filipino spirits.”
The Ambassador also emphasized the importance of promoting Filipino talent in the global bar scene.
“We hope that Filipino mixologists, who are known worldwide, will be encouraged to promote Filipino drinks. We plan to invite well‑known Filipino mixologists to Austria to showcase Filipino cocktails. Through this, we aim to continuously promote Filipino products,” she added.
A Partnership Rooted in Cultural Innovation
The Embassy’s collaboration with Plus43/Speakeasy began in 2023, shortly after Ambassador Bernas assumed her post in Austria. The initiative mirros similar cultural projects undertaken by other embassies in Vienna, but the Philippine Embassy has been a pioneer in spotlighting national spirits through mixology-focused events.
Raising the Profile of Filipino Spirits in Europe
Philippine Cocktail Week aims not only to delight guests but also to strengthen the presence of Filipino spirits in Austria’s competitive bar landscape. With growing interest in Southeast Asian flavors across Europe, organizers hope the event will open new opportunities for Filipino producers and inspire more establishments to explore Filipino ingredients.
